Coastal Renewal

Perched on a coastal site, this Victorian villa, stripped of its original character save for the retained front facade, has been meticulously transformed into a contemporary family residence that redefines its relationship with the sea. The design prioritises both physical and visual connectivity to the waterfront, achieved through a series of deliberate architectural interventions.

Central to the scheme is a great room, spanning the full width of the house, its expansive glazing framing panoramic sea views and seamlessly integrating with a raised barbecue terrace. This terrace, conceived as an external living space, is equipped with an outdoor kitchen, dining zone, and lounge, creating a fluid transition between interior and exterior. To the rear, the house is organised across three distinct levels, anchored by a games room that opens directly onto the garden. Internally, the material palette emphasises robustness and tactility, with natural finishes employed to evoke a relaxed, holiday-inspired atmosphere.

The landscape design extends the coastal narrative into the site, incorporating boulder walls and native planting to reinforce the dialogue between architecture and its maritime context. This is a home where historic echoes meet modern precision, crafted to harmonise with its environment while offering a refined, family-oriented retreat.
